Question

Ramesh invested a certain sum of money at 9% per annum simple interest. If he receives an interest of ₹20,250 after one year, the sum he invested is:

A.

₹2,25,000

B.

₹2,00,000

C.

₹2,75,000

D.

₹2,50,000

Correct option is A

Given:

Rate of interest (R) = 9% per annum

Interest received (SI) = ₹20,250

Time (T) = 1 year

Formula Used:

SI = P×R×T100\frac{P \times R \times T}{100}

Solution:

Let P be the principal.

Then,

20250=P×9×1100  P=20250×1009  P=22500020250 = \frac{P\times 9 \times 1}{100} \\ \ \\ \implies P = \frac{20250 \times 100}{9} \\ \ \\\ P = 225000

Thus, Principal is ₹2,25,000
