Question

Raju lost 13% by selling a radio set for ₹4,524. What percentage of profit would he have earned by selling it for ₹6,400 (rounded off to two decimal places)?

A.

25.25%

B.

28.52%

C.

21.05%

D.

23.08%

Correct option is D

Given:

Selling Price for radio = ₹4524

Raju loss on selling radio = 13%

Formula Used:

Loss = Cost Price - Selling Price

Loss Percent =LossCost Price×100 \frac{Loss}{Cost\ Price} \times 100

Solution:

Let the Cost Price be x

Then loss = 13% of x = 0.13x

Selling Price = x -0.13x = 0.87x

But 0.87x = 4524

x=45240.87=5200x= \frac{4524}{0.87} = ₹5200

If Raju sold radio for ₹6400

Then Profit = 6400 -5200 = ₹1200

Profit percentage = 12005200×100=23.08%\frac{1200}{5200} \times 100 = 23.08\%
