    Question

A shopkeeper bought an article for ₹760. At what price (in ₹) should he sell the article to make 30% profit?

    A.

    976

    B.

    988

    C.

    1000

    D.

    532

    Correct option is B

    Given:

A shopkeeper bought an article for 760.

The article to make 30% profit

    Formula used:

    Selling price=Cost price+Profit percentage100×Cost price\text{Selling price} = \text{Cost price} + \frac{\text{Profit percentage}} {100}\times \text{Cost price}

    Solution:

    Applying the formula:

    Selling price=760+30100×760\text{Selling price} = 760 + \frac{30}{100}\times760

    =760+(0.30×760) = 760 + (0.30\times 760)

    =760+228 = 760 + 228

    =988= 988

Thus, the shopkeeper should sell the article for Rs.988 to make a 30% profit.
