Question

Of the three angles of a triangle, one is twice the smallest and another one is thrice the smallest. Find the value of the smallest angle.

A.

65°

B.

60°

C.

30°

D.

45°

Correct option is C

Given:

The three angles of a triangle.

One angle is twice the smallest angle.

Another angle is thrice the smallest angle.

Concept Used:

The sum of the angles of a triangle is always 180.80^\circ.

Solution:

Let the smallest angle be x. Then:

The second angle is 2x (twice the smallest).

The third angle is 3x (thrice the smallest).

x + 2x+3x=180x + 3x = 180^\circ

6x=180 = 180^\circ

x =1806=30 \frac{180^\circ}{6} = 30^\circ

The smallest angle is 30.30^\circ.
