Question

Krishna ate 13\frac{1}{3} of a pizza and Devshya ate 25\frac{2}{5} of the remaining. What fraction of the pizza is left uneaten?

A.

315\frac{3}{15}

B.

415\frac{4}{15}

C.

25\frac{2}{5}

D.

35\frac{3}{5}

Correct option is C

Given:

Krishna ate 13\frac{1}{3} of the pizza.

Devshya ate 25\frac{2}{5} of the remaining pizza after Krishna ate his portion.

Solution:

Remaining after Krishna=113=23= 1 - \frac{1}{3} = \frac{2}{3}

Devshya’s portion =25×23=415 \frac{2}{5} \times \frac{2}{3} = \frac{4}{15}

Remaining uneaten=1(13+415) 1 - \left( \frac{1}{3} + \frac{4}{15} \right)

=1915=615=25= 1 - \frac{9}{15} = \frac{6}{15} = \frac{2}{5}

Thus, the fraction of the pizza that is left uneaten is 25\frac{2}{5}.
