Question

In what ratio should sugar costing ₹40 per kg be mixed with sugar costing ₹81 per kg so that by selling the mixture at ₹57.5 per kg, there is a profit of 25%?

A.

35 : 6

B.

8 : 36

C.

4 : 34

D.

5 : 33

Correct option is A

Given:

Cost of sugar 1: ₹40 per kg

Cost of sugar 2: ₹81 per kg

Selling price of the mixture: ₹57.5 per kg

Desired profit: 25%

Formula Used:

Cost Price of the mixture =Selling Price1+Profit Percentage= \frac{\text{Selling Price}}{1 + \text{Profit Percentage}}

Solution:

Cost Price of the mixture =57.51+0.25=57.51.25=46= \frac{57.5}{1 + 0.25} = \frac{57.5}{1.25} = 46

Required ratio =(8146)(4640)=356= \frac{(81 - 46)}{(46 - 40)} = \frac{35}{6}
