Question

In how many years will a sum of money be 12 times itself at 44% per annum simple interest?

A.

35 years

B.

25 years

C.

30 years

D.

20 years

Correct option is B

Given:

Final amount = 12 times the principal

Rate (R) = 44% per annum

Simple Interest (SI)

Formula Used:

A = P + SI

SI = P×R×T100\frac{P \times R \times T}{100}

Solution:

A = 12 P

=>12P = P + SI

=>SI = 11P

11P = P×44×T100\frac{P \times 44 \times T}{100}

11 = 44T100 \frac{44T}{100}

=>\Rightarrow 1100 = 44T

=>T=110044\Rightarrow T = \frac{1100}{44}

= 25 years

Thus, the correct option is (b) 25 years
