In a class of boys and girls, the number of girls is twice the number of boys. If 20 more boys join the class, the ratio of girls and boys is 1: 1. How many total students were there in the class initially?

A.

60

B.

75

C.

45

D.

90

Correct option is A

Let the number of boys be x

and the number of girls be 2x

x+202x=11\frac{x+20}{2x} = \frac{1}{1}

x+ 20 = 2x

x= 20

Total number of students = x + 2x = 3x = 3× 20 = 60
