Question

In a bag, there are coins of 25 paise, 10 paise and 5 paise in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there are Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 paise coins are there?

A.

50

B.

150

C.

100

D.

200

Correct option is B

Given:

The ratio of 25 paise, 10 paise, and 5 paise coins = 1 : 2 : 3

Total value of all coins = Rs. 30

Formula Used:

Total Amount = No. of coins ×\times Face value

Solution:

Let the number of coins are x, 2x and 3x.

25x + 2x × 10 + 3x × 5 = 30 × 100

60x = 3000

X = 50

Number of 5 paise coins are 3x = 150
