If x: y = 3:5 and z : w = 2x : 5y, then what is the value of xz : yw?
Question

If x: y = 3:5 and z : w = 2x : 5y, then what is the value of xz : yw?

A.

18: 125

B.

19:75

C.

18:75

D.

18:65

Correct option is A

Given:
x : y = 3 : 5
z : w = 2x : 5y
Solution:
z : w = 2x : 5y
From the given ratio x : y = 3 : 5, let x = 3k and y = 5k, where k is a constant.
z : w = 2(3k) : 5(5k) = 6k : 25k
So, z : w = 6 : 25
Now,
xz = 3k×63k \times 6 = 18kx
yw = 5k×255k \times 25 = 125k
Thus, the ratio xz : yw = 18k : 125k = 18 : 125
