Question

If the ratio of the areas of two squares is 169 : 196, then the ratio of their perimeters is:

A.

13 : 14

B.

14 : 13

C.

196 : 169

D.

169 : 196

Correct option is A

Given:

Ratio of the areas of two squares = 169 : 196

Formula Used:

The area of a square is given by A = side

Perimeter of square = 4×\timesside

Solution:

Ratios of Area's

s12s22\frac{{s}^2_1}{{s}^2_2} = 169196\frac{{169}}{{196}}

s1s2\frac{{s}_1}{{s}_2} = 169196\frac{\sqrt{169}}{\sqrt{196}}

s1s2\frac{{s}_1}{{s}_2} = 1314\frac{13}{14}

Now; we know

Ratio perimeter of square = 4×s14×s2=s1s2\frac{4 \times s_1}{4 \times s_2} = \frac{s_1}{s_2}

Thus,

The ratio of their perimeters is 13 : 14
