Question

If the length and the perimeter of a rectangle are in the ratio of 3 : 20, then its length and breadth will be in the ratio of :

A.

3 : 7

B.

3 : 6

C.

3 : 5

D.

3 : 4

Correct option is A

Given:
Ratio of length to perimeter = 3 : 20
Formula Used:
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)
Solution:
Let length of rectangle = 3x and perimeter = 20x
Let the breadth be b unit
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)
=>20x =  2(3x + b)
3x + b = 10x => b = 7x
So, Length : Breadth = 3x : 7x = 3 : 7
