    Question

If the average weight of 40 apples is 33 kg and that of 32 apples is 60 kg, then the average weight (in kg) of all the apples is:

    A.

    46.5

    B.

    45

    C.

    44

    D.

    45.2

    Correct option is B

    Given:
Average weight of 40 apples = 33 kg
Average weight of 32 apples = 60 kg
    Formula Used:
    Average = Sum of all the valuesTotal number of values\frac{Sum \ of \ all\ the\ values}{Total \ number \ of \ values}
    Solution:
    As per the average formula,
    Total weight of 40 apples = 33 × 40 = 1320 kg
    Total weight of 32 apples = 32 × 60 = 1920 kg
    Total weight of 72 apples = 1320 + 1920 = 3240 kg
Average weight of all the apples = 324072\frac{3240}{72} = 45 kg
