Find the circumference of a circle that circumscribes a square of side 7 cm. (Use π = 22/7)
Question

Find the circumference of a circle that circumscribes a square of side 7 cm. (Use π = 22/7)

A.

44√2 cm

B.

22 cm

C.

44 cm

D.

22√2 cm

Correct option is D

Given:

Side of square = 7 cm

Square is circumference in a circle

Formula used:

Diagonal of square = a√2

Solution:

As we know that, Circle is circumference in a square

So, Diagonal of the square = Diameter of the circle

=> Diagonal of square = 7√2

=> Radius of the circle =  722 \ \frac{7 \sqrt{2}}{2}\ \mathrm{}

Now, Circumference of the circle

 Circumference =2πr=2×227×722=222 cm\text { Circumference }=2 \pi r=2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times \frac{7 \sqrt{2}}{2}=22 \sqrt{2} \mathrm{~cm}

Thus, the correct answer is (d).
