Find the area (in square units) of a triangle with vertices (3,4),(5,7) and (-3,6).
Question

Find the area (in square units) of a triangle with vertices (3,4),(5,7) and (-3,6).

A.

11

B.

1

C.

5

D.

2

Correct option is A

Given:

Vertices of a triangle = (3,4),(5,7) and (-3,6)

Formula Used:

Area of a triangle with vertices(x1,y1),(x2,y2)and(x3,y3) (x_1,y_1),(x_2,y_2) and (x_3,y_3)

Area = 12[x1(y2y3)+x2(y3y1)+x3(y1y2)]\frac{1}{2} [ x_1(y_2-y_3) + x_2(y_3-y_1)+x_3(y_1-y_2)]

Solution:

Here vertices are (3,4),(5,7) and (-3,6)

Area =12[3(76)+5(64)3(47)] \frac{1}{2}[ 3(7-6) + 5(6-4) -3(4-7)]

=12[3+10+9]= \frac{1}{2}[ 3+10+9]

=12[22]=\frac{1}{2}[22]

=11cm2= 11cm^2
