Question

Atul’s salary is ₹10,000 per month. He spends ₹6,000 on house rent and ₹2,500 on bills, and the rest of the amount is his monthly savings. Find his savings (in ₹) in a year, if in the month of his birthday, he spent all his monthly savings on birthday celebrations.

A.

18,000

B.

16,500

C.

13,500

D.

15,000

Correct option is B

Given:

Monthly salary = ₹10,000

Monthly expenses: House rent = ₹6,000; Bills = ₹2,500

Usual monthly savings = Salary − Expenses

In the birthday month, he spends all savings

savings that month = ₹0

Solution:
Monthly savings = Salary - (House Rent + Bills)

Monthly savings =10,000(6,000+2,500)=10,0008,500=1,500). 10{,}000 - (6{,}000 + 2{,}500) = 10{,}000 - 8{,}500 = ₹1{,}500).
Annual savings = 11×1,500=16,500 \times 1{,}500 = ₹16,500
