Question

Arjun, Bharath and Chandru played a cricket match. The ratio of runs scored by Arjun and Bharath is 1 : 2 and the ratio of runs scored by Bharath and Chandru is 3 : 4. If together they score 204 runs, how many runs has Chandru made more than Arjun?

A.

62 runs

B.

66 runs

C.

60 runs

D.

70 runs

Correct option is C

Given:

Arjun : Bharath is 1 : 2

Bharath : Chandru is 3 : 4

Calculation:

According to the given information,

Ratio of runs scored by Arjun and Bharath is 1 : 2

Ratio of runs scored by Bharath and Chandru is 3 : 4

Arjun: Bharath = (1: 2) × 3 = 3 : 6

Bharath: Chandru = (3: 4) × 2 = 6 : 8

Bharath is common in both ratio.

Thus, the ation of runs scored by Arjun, Bharath and Chandru is 3: 6 :8

Let the runs scored be 3x, 6x and 8x

Total runs = 204

3x + 6x + 8x = 204

17x = 204

x = 12

Runs scored by Chandru = 8x = 96

Runs scored by Arjun = 3x = 36

Difference = 96 – 36 = 60

Chandru scored 60 runs more than Arjun.
