    Question

An observer 1.5 m tall is standing 28.5 m away at the same level as the foot of a tower. If angle of elevation of the observer watching the top of the tower is 45 degrees then what is the height of the tower?

    A.

    30 m

    B.

    25 m

    C.

    35 m

    D.

    20 m

    Correct option is A

    Given:

An observer 1.5 m tall is standing 28.5 m away at the same level as the foot of a tower.

Angle of elevation of the observer watching the top of the tower is 45 degrees

    Concept used:

    When Angle of elevation is 45° then H : P : B = √2 : 1 : 1

    Solution:

    F1 RaviS Madhuri 10.03.2022 D2

    ATQ, CE = 1.5 m

and ED = 28.5 m = CB and in ΔABC, Angle of elevation is 45°=> AB = BC

    then AD = AB + BD = 28.5 + 1.5 m

    => AD = 30 m
