    Question

    An amount of ₹741 is divided among three persons in the ratio of 2 : 14 : 10. The difference between the largest and the smallest shares (in ₹) in the distribution is:

    A.

    401

    B.

    342

    C.

    323

    D.

    331

    Correct option is B

    Given:

    Total amount = ₹741
    Ratio = 2 : 14 : 10

    Formula Used:
    Share of each person = (Individual Ratio ÷ Sum of Ratios) × Total Amount
    Difference = Largest Share – Smallest Share

    Solution:
    Sum of ratios = 2 + 14 + 10 = 26

    Value of 1 part = 741 ÷ 26 = 28.5

    Smallest share = 2 × 28.5 = ₹57

    Largest share = 14 × 28.5 = ₹399

    Other share = 10 × 28.5 = ₹285

    Difference = 399 – 57 = ₹342
