Question

An amount of ₹50 is divided among A, B and C such that A gets ₹5 more than B and B gets ₹9 more than C. What is the ratio of their shares?

A.

13 : 24 : 13

B.

23 : 18 : 9

C.

23 : 14 : 13

D.

14 : 23 : 14

Correct option is B

Given:

Total amount = ₹50
A gets ₹5 more than B
B gets ₹9 more than C

Solution:
Let C's share be x.
Then B = x + 9, A = x + 9 + 5 = x + 14
Total = A + B + C

x + 14 + x + 9 + x = 50

3x + 23 = 50

3x = 27

x = 9

C = 9, B = 9 + 9 = 18, A = 9 + 14 = 23

Ratio A : B : C = 23 : 18 : 9
