Question

A sum, when invested at 10% simple interest per annum, amounts to Rs. 3600 after 2 years. What is the simple interest (in Rs.) on the same sum at the same rate of interest in 2 years?

A.

600

B.

1200

C.

2400

D.

300

Correct option is A

Given:

Principal at 10% SI amounts to Rs. 3600 in 2 years.

Need: Simple Interest for 2 years at 10% on the same principal.

Formula Used:

Amount = Principal + Simple Interest

SI = P×R×T100\frac{P × R × T}{100}

Solution:

3600 = P + P×10×2100\frac{P × 10 × 2}{100}

3600 = P + P5\frac{P }{5}

6P=3600×5  P=3000\implies 6P = 3600 \times 5 \\ \ \\\ P = ₹3000

So, SI = 3600 - 3000 = ₹600
