Question

A sum of money is distributed among four persons A,B,C and D in the ratio 4:7:9:3. If C gets Rs. 800 more than B, then find the amount that D gets.

A.

Rs. 1,000

B.

Rs. 1,500

C.

Rs. 1,400

D.

Rs. 1,200

Correct option is D

Given:

The ratio of the amounts received by A, B, C, and D is 4:7:9:3.

C gets Rs. 800 more than B.

Solution:

Amount received by A = 4x, Amount received by B = 7x, Amount received by C = 9x, Amount received by D = 3x

C gets Rs. 800 more than B.

9x = 7x + 800

9x −7x= 800

2x = 800

x = 400

Amount received by D = 3x

= 3 ×\times 400

= 1200

So, the amount that D gets is Rs. 1200.

Thus, correct option is (d)
