    Question

    A solid cuboid is melted to form a number of cubes. If the length, breadth and height of a cuboid are 20 cm, 16 cm and 8 cm, and the edge of each cube is 4 cm, then the number of cubes is:

    A.

    50

    B.

    44

    C.

    40

    D.

    48

    Correct option is C

    The length, breadth, and height of a cuboid are 20 cm, 16 cm and 8 cm.
    The edge of each cube is 4 cm.
    In both of the cases, volume should be the same.
    Volume of cuboid = length × breadth × height
    According to the question,
    Let the number of cube are N
    20 × 16 × 8 = N × 43
    N = 5 × 4 × 2
    N = 40
