Question

A metallic part of a machine is made from a mixture of copper, zinc and lead mixed in the ratio of 13:6: 1. If the weight of zinc in this part is 90 kg, then the total weight of the part will be:

A.

210 kg

B.

195 kg

C.

300 kg

D.

285 kg

Correct option is C

Given:
Copper : Zinc : Lead = 13 : 6 : 1
Quantity of zinc = 90 kg
Solution:
part of copper, zinc and lead are 13y, 6y, y
13y + 6y + y = 20y (Total)
6y = 90kg
Total weight of the machine part = 20y
So,

906y×20y=300 kg\frac{90}{6y} \times 20y = 300 \ kg
