A man spends 30% of his salary on groceries, and is left with ₹3,500. Find his total salary.
Question

A man spends 30% of his salary on groceries, and is left with ₹3,500. Find his total salary.

A.

₹5,000

B.

₹5,500

C.

₹11,000

D.

₹6,000

Correct option is A

Given:

Percentage of salary spent on groceries = 30%

Amount left after spending = ₹3,500

Concept Used:

If a man spends 30% of his salary, he is left with 100%−30% = 70% of his salary.

Formula Used:

Amount left = 70100\frac{70}{100} × S

Where, S be the total amount

Solution:

Now,

70100\frac{70}{100} × S = 3500

S = 3500×\times107\frac{10}7

S = 500 ×\times 10

S = ₹5000
