Question

A man has some amount of money and he invested the money in two schemes X and Y in the ratio of 2 : 5 for 2 years, scheme X offers 30% pa compound interest and scheme Y offers 15% pa Simple interest. The difference between the interest earned from both the schemes is Rs. 21600. Find the amount invested in scheme Y.

A.

9,00,000

B.

10,00,000

C.

8,00,000

D.

7,00,000

E.

11,00,000

Correct option is A

Let the amount invested in X & Y be 200a & 500a respectively.
Equivalent rate of CI for 2 years at 30% p.a. =(30+30+30×30100)%=69%(30 + 30 + \frac{30 \times 30}{100})\% = 69\%
Interest received from scheme X =69100\frac{69}{100}×200a=138a

Interest received from scheme Y =500a×15×2100\frac{500a \times 15 \times 2}{100}=150a
ATQ,
150a – 138a = 21600
12a=21600
a = 1800
Amount invested in scheme Y = 500a = 500×1800=9,00,000 Rs
