    Question

A cylindrical oil tank has a radius of 5 m and a total surface area of 628 m² what would be its curved surface area ? (round off to the second decimal place)

    A.

    371.83 m²

    B.

    401.43 m²

    C.

    470.8 m²

    D.

    481.43 m²

    Correct option is C

    Given:
    Radius of cylindrical tank =5m
Total surface area of tank = 628
    Formula Used:

Curved surface area = 2πrh2\pi rh

    Total surface area = 2πr2+2πrh2\pi r^2 + 2\pi rh
Curved surface area = Total surface area - (Area of circle of top and bottom of tank)
    Solution:
    CSA = 628 - 2π\pi r2r^2
    =6282×227×25 =628157.14 =470.85= 628 - 2 \times \frac{22}{7}\times 25 \\\ \\= 628- 157.14 \\\ \\= 470.85
