Question

A bag contains ₹3,000, the notes of which are in the denominations of ₹50, ₹100 and ₹10. If the notes of ₹100, ₹50 and ₹10 are in the ratio of 5 : 8 : 10, then the number of the notes of ₹50 in the bag will be :

A.

16

B.

32

C.

24

D.

8

Correct option is C

Given:

Total amount = ₹3000

Denominations = ₹100, ₹50, ₹10

Ratio of number of notes = 5 : 8 : 10

Solution:

Let the number of ₹100, ₹50, and ₹10 notes be 5x, 8x, and 10x respectively

Now,

100 × 5x + 50 × 8x + 10 × 10x = 3000

500x + 400x + 100x = 3000

1000x = 3000

x = 3

Number of ₹50 notes = 8x = 8 × 3 = 24
