Question

A and B have invested ₹20,000 and ₹16,000 respectively. A month later, C joined them with an investment of ₹15,000. What will be B's share of the semi-annual profit of ₹4,100?

A.

Rs.1,353

B.

Rs.2,000

C.

Rs.4,200

D.

Rs.5,000

Correct option is A

Given:

Total profit = ₹4,100

A invested ₹20,000 for 6 months.

B invested ₹16,000 for 6 months.

C invested ₹15,000 for 5 months.

Solution:

The ratios of their investments are calculated as:

Ratio of A =20000×6 20000 \times 6 = 120000

Ratio of B =16000×6 16000 \times 6 = 96000

Ratio of C = 15000×515000 \times 5 = 75000

The total ratio is:

Total Ratio = 120000 + 96000 + 75000 = 291000

B's share of the profit is calculated as:

B’s Share=96000291000×4100\text{B's Share} = \frac{96000}{291000} \times 4100 = 1352.58
