Question

400 pears were bought at Rs. 1250 per hundred and were sold at a profit of Rs. 900. Find the selling price (in Rs. ) per dozen of pears.

A.

192

B.

177

C.

187

D.

167

Correct option is B

Given:
Total pears bought = 400
Cost per 100 pears = Rs. 1250
Profit = Rs. 900
Solution:
If 100 pears cost Rs. 1250, then:
CP of 400 pears = 1250 × 4 = Rs. 5000
SP = CP + Profit = 5000 + 900 = Rs. 5900
Selling Price per dozen = 5900400×12=Rs.177\frac{5900}{400}\times 12 = Rs. 177
