Question

15 mangoes are bought for Rs. 250, and 9 mangoes are bought for Rs. 200. If all the mangoes are sold at Rs. 240 per dozen, then what is the profit percentage in the entire transaction (round up to two decimal places)?

A.

106.67%

B.

6.67%

C.

93.37%

D.

66.67%

Correct option is B

Given:

15 mangoes are bought for Rs. 250

9 mangoes are bought for Rs. 200

All the mangoes are sold at Rs. 240 per dozen (12 mangoes)

Formula Used:

Profit = Total SP - Total CP

Profit Percentage =ProfitTotal CP×100 \frac{\text{Profit}}{\text{Total CP}} \times 100

Solution:

Cost of 15 mangoes = ₹250

Cost of 9 mangoes = ₹200

Total CP = ₹250 + ₹200 = ₹450

Selling price per dozen = ₹240

Selling price per mango = 24012\frac{240}{12} = ₹20

Total number of mangoes = 15 + 9 = 24 mangoes

Total SP = 24 × ₹20 = ₹480

Now,

Profit = ₹480 - ₹450 = ₹30

Profit Percentage = 30450×100=6.67%\frac{30}{450} \times 100 = 6.67\%
