Question

₹ 1,800 is divided among Nitin, Tushar and Gitanjali. The share of Gitanjali is 5/4 of the sum of the shares of Nitin and Tushar. What is the share of Gitanjali ?

A.

700

B.

750

C.

800

D.

1000

Correct option is D

Given:

Total amount = ₹ 1,800

Solution:

Let shares be N (Nitin), T (Tushar), G (Gitanjali)

G =54(N+T)= \dfrac{5}{4}(N+T)

Total: N + T + G = 1800

Substitute N+T = 45G\dfrac{4}{5}G into total.

N+T+G =45G+G=95G=1800 \frac{4}{5}G + G = \frac{9}{5}G = 1800
G =1800×59=1000.= 1800 \times \frac{5}{9} = 1000.
