The plant produces Green Hydrogen from the electricity generated by 500kW Solar plant using a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array.

The LSG skipper is now only behind West Indies batter Chris Gayle (162 innings) and Pakistan captain Babar Azam (165) in the all-time list.

Sol. Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has announced on April 18 that all 100 smart cities will have integrated command and control centres (ICCCs).

While 80 of these smart cities already have these centres, the remaining 20 will have operational centres by August 15, 2022.

The Minister said this while speaking at the 3-day ‘Smart Cities, Smart Urbanisation’ conference that began in Surat on April 18th.

The operational Integrated Command and Control Centres in 80 smart cities had functioned as war rooms for covid-19 management during the pandemic.

Sol. Indian-American US Navy veteran Shanti Sethi has been appointed as executive secretary and defence advisor of US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Sethi is the first Indian-American commander of a major US Navy combat ship.

Shanti Sethi commanded the guided-missile destroyer, USS Decatur, from December 2010 to May 2012. She was also the first female commander of a US naval vessel to visit India.

Kamala Harris is the first-ever person of Indian origin to be elected as the Vice President of the United States.

Sol. The Indian Navy launched the sixth and last submarine, Yard 11880, of the French Scorpene-class under Project 75, on April 20, 2022 at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai.

The submarine has been named as ‘Vagsheer’

The submarine will now undergo rigorous harbour trials and sea trials, before being commissioned in the Indian Navy.

These submarines are designed by French naval defence and energy company ‘DCNS’ while Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai has manufactured them.

Sol. The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati raj, Jammu and Kashmir, under the e-governance initiative has launched an app ‘Jan Nigrani’, intended to help people lodge their complaints related to various schemes online.

The Jan Nigrani app is a 24×7 internet-based platform aimed at reporting and resolving the grievances of the residents of J&K, against various government schemes launched by the department.

The app would act as a single link between the residents and the officials by mapping concerned authorities related to the complaint for faster grievance redressal.

Sol. On April 18, India and Finland announced their decision to set up an Indo-Finnish Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing.

Bilateral collaboration between the two countries aims to promote creative research and development initiatives that address a specific need or challenge.

India and Finland are Antarctic Treaty consultative members with active stations in the Antarctic.

Dilip Shanghvi & Family, of the Sun Pharmaceuticals, is at the 5th position with a net worth of USD 18 billion.

China (34) has the most healthcare industry billionaires, followed by the United States of America (16), Switzerland (15), Germany (11), and India (9).

Sol. IT major Wipro has announced the appointment of Satya Easwaran as the Country Head for India.

He will be in charge of strengthening Wipro’s business in India across segments through strategic consulting, transformation and modernisation engagements.

He will help clients leverage Wipro’s capabilities and investments in cloud, digital, engineering R&D, data/analytics and cybersecurity.

Sol. Digit Insurance has appointed Jasleen Kohli as the company’s new managing director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from April 20, 2022.

She succeeds Vijay Kumar who retired from the company on April 19, 2022. She served as chief distribution officer (CDO) at Digit, where she was responsible for all of the company’s sales and distribution channels.

In 2021, Digit increased its worth to USD 3.5 billion in less than six months after raising USD 200 million in a funding round.

Sol. 121 Finance has become India’s 1st NBFC (Non-Banking Financial Company) Factor. It is a Jaipur-based NBFC. Before this amendment, only big corporations could become factors.

Factoring is the business of buying the receivables from a firm and servicing it at a discount to earn a profit. Here the buyer is not under an immediate obligation to pay the amount. His Bill is rather purchased by a Factor, who would service the bill at a discount to the seller company.

This helps in the recovery of the nonpayment of dues. This is based on Risk Management and involves negotiations to reach an amicable solution. Also, there is no need for any collateral in factoring.

Sol. Honorable Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has registered India’s stand on cryptocurrency at the International Monetary Fund.

The Government of India has levied a tax of 30% upon cryptocurrency under the head digital transaction tax, in the budget 2022.

Registering India’s stand, the FM sought a Global Crypto Regulation Framework. The nature of this framework is yet to be finalized.

Sol. State Bank of India (SBI) has raised 3-year funds of $500 million (over Rs 3,800 crore) through a syndicated loan facility at “very fine pricing” through its IFSC Gift City branch.

This is the first offshore USD Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) linked syndicated loan raised by SBI through its Gift City branch.

The facility is for USD 400 million plus USD 100 million as a green shoe option. MUFG, Bank of America and JP Morgan were the Joint lenders for this offering whereas Fist Abu Dhabi Bank acted as the facility agent.

Sol. Kerala’s Health Minister Veena George has denied the Centre’s allegations over daily Covid data, calling them “unfortunate” and “absolutely wrong“.

Centre wrote to Kerala government asking it to provide Covid data daily and said that the southern state reporting this data after a gap of 5 days had impacted and skewed main Covid indicators like the number of cases and positivity rate.

The Centre had said that daily cases saw a jump of 90% because of the Kerala government’s delay in sending data.

Naresh Kumar, a 1987-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer, has been transferred from Arunachal Pradesh to Delhi.

Sol. Russia successfully tested Sarmat, a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile that can reportedly strike any target in the world.

Russian President Vladimir warned that the weapon, which is capable of carrying nuclear charges will make Russia’s enemies “think twice.”

Russia’s Defence Ministry called Sarmat as the most powerful missile with the longest range of destruction of targets in the world, which will significantly increase the combat power of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces.

The long-range missile has been in development since the 2000s.

Sol. Biliti Electric Inc (Biliti), based in California, United States of America, has announced its intention to establish the World’s largest electric three-wheeler manufacturing facility in Telangana.

The plant will be built in 2 phases over an area of 200 acres. Phase I of 5 acres with a capacity to produce 18000 Electric Vehicles(EV) per year will become operational in 2023 and the larger facility of 200 acres with a production capacity of 240000 EV per year will become operational in 2024.

The facility will produce all the products of Biliti including the cargo model TaskmanTM and the passenger version UrbanTM.

Sol. Oranges grown in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district will now have a distinct identity of their own from the ones produced in Nagpur in neighbouring Maharashtra, and will be called Satpuda orange under the “one district one produce” scheme of the government, an official said on 19th April 2022.

The authorities have also created a QR code for the fruit, which will reveal all the information about the variety, the moment someone scans the code, he said.

Under the one-district-one-produce scheme, oranges grown in Chhindwara will be known as “Satpuda orange”

Sol. The ‘National Conference on Agriculture: Kharif Campaign 2022’ was inaugurated by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.

During the event, the government announced a food-grain production target of 328 million tonnes for 2022-23.

Kharif food-grain production target has been fixed at 15 million tonnes, while Rabi food-grain production target has been kept at 164.85 million tonnes.

Total food grain production has increased by 25% in the last 6 years from 251.54 to 316.01 million tonnes.

The annual cyber wargames, known as the Locked Shields exercise, started in Tallinn, Estonia.
