தமிழ்நாடு இந்து சமய மற்றும் அறநிலையச் சட்டம் -1959 (தமிழ்நாடு சட்டம் 22 1959) பிரிவு 10-ன் படி இந்து மதத்தை அறிவிக்கும் நபர்கள் மட்டுமே விண்ணப்பிக்க தகுதியுடையவர்கள்.

தேர்வு இரண்டு தொடர்ச்சியான நிலைகளில் செய்யப்படும், அதாவது.
