Sol.Chakravarti Rajagopalachari (C. Rajagopalachari) was the last Governor-General of India. He served from 21st June 1948 to 26th January 1950, after which India became a Republic and the position of Governor-General was abolished. He was also the first and only Indian to hold this post, as his predecessors were all British.
After India became a Republic on 26th January 1950, Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the first President of India, replacing the Governor-General system.
