On 26 June 2024, Om Birla was re-elected as the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. He was the candidate of the BJP-led NDA alliance and defeated the Congress candidate Kadikunnil Suresh. This election was the fourth Speaker election in the history of the Lok Sabha of India, which is usually held unanimously.

Om Birla has been serving as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha since 2019 and this is his second term. ​
