Correct option is A
The IBPS Clerk exam is a national-level competitive examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to recruit clerical staff for various public sector banks in India. The recruitment is state and union territory-wise, meaning candidates apply for vacancies in a specific state and are expected to have proficiency in its official language. The exam is conducted annually and follows a two-stage selection process: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination.
The Preliminary exam is an online test consisting of three sections – English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability – with a total of 100 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. Candidates who qualify the prelims are shortlisted for the Main examination, which is more comprehensive. The Mains exam includes 190 questions divided into four sections: General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, and Quantitative Aptitude, to be completed in 160 minutes.
The scores are calculated using the equi-percentile normalization method, and final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Mains examination only. There is no interview round for clerical posts. Once selected, candidates are offered positions as clerks, where their primary responsibilities include handling customer service, cash operations, data entry, and back-office banking work. The exam is highly competitive due to the large number of applicants, making consistent preparation essential for success.
