Under the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY), the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) pays 50% of an insured person's average daily earnings as unemployment relief for up to 90 days.
The scheme is available to all insured persons covered under the ESI Act, 1948. To be eligible, the insured person must:
- Have been in insurable employment for a minimum of one year
- Have contributed for at least 78 days in the contribution period immediately before unemployment
- Have contributed for at least 78 days in one of the remaining three contribution periods in the two years before unemployment
Claims can be made online at esic.in or by submitting a physical claim to the designated ESIC Branch Office. The claim must include an affidavit, photocopy of Aadhaar Card, and bank account details. The claim becomes due 30 days after the date of unemployment.
The ABVKY scheme was introduced in 2018 and was extended until June 30, 2024.
