    Question

    Two years ago, the ratio of the respective ages of Subash and Pranav was 4 : 5. Three years hence, this ratio will become 5 : 6. The present age of Pranav is:

    A.

    22 years

    B.

    25 years

    C.

    20 years

    D.

    27 years

    Correct option is D

    Given:

    Two years ago, the ratio of the ages of Subash and Pranav was 4 : 5

    Three years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 5 : 6

    Solution:

    Now, From the condition;

    (4x+5)(5x+5)=56\frac{(4x + 5)}{(5x + 5)} = \frac{5}{6}

    6 (4x + 5) = 5 (5x + 5)

    24x + 30 = 25x + 25

    25x − 24x = 30 − 25

    x = 5

    then, Present age of Pranav;

    (5x + 2) = 5(5) + 2 = 25+ 2 = 27years
