x + y = 48.......(1)
Four years ago:
Ram's age = x - 4
Ramesh's age = y - 4
Given that four years ago, Ram's age was three times Ramesh's age:
x - 4 = 3(y - 4)
x = 3y - 8 .......(2)
Substituting x from Equation 2 into Equation 1:
(3y - 8) + y = 48
3y - 8 + y = 48
4y = 56
y = 14
Ramesh's present age = 14 years
Ramesh's age five years from now = 14 + 5 = 19
Thus, Ramesh will be 19 years old five years from now.
