Question

The ratio of Teja’s and his mother’s present ages is 7 : 11. The difference between their ages is 20 years. The age of Teja after 3 years will be:

A.

35 years

B.

29 years

C.

38 years

D.

32 years

Correct option is C

Given:

Ratio of age of Teja and his mother = 7 : 11

Difference between their age = 20 years

Solution:

Let the age of Teja be 7x and his mother be 11x

So,

11x - 7x = 20

4x = 20

x = 204\frac{20}{4}

x = 5

Present age of Teja = 7 ×\times 5 = 35 years

Thus, Teja's age after 3 years = 35 + 3 = 38 years
