    Question

The product of the LCM and HCF of two numbers is 48 . If the two numbers differ by 13 , then find the numbers.

    A.

    3 and 16

    B.

    4 and 17

    C.

    11 and 24

    D.

    12 and 25

    Correct option is A

    Given :

    HCF ×\times LCM =  48

    Two number difference = 13

    Formula used :

    HCF×LCM=Product ofnumberHCF \times LCM = Product \ of number

    Solution:

Let the two number be x and y.

    x×y=48x \times y = 48

    xy=13(given)x - y = 13 (given)

    Factors of x and y = 48 are ( 1, 48), (2, 24), (3, 16), (4, 12), (6, 8)

This only pair which satisfies both the condition is  (3, 16)
