Question

The perimeter of a rectangle is 120 m. If its length is twice its breadth, then its area is:

A.

500 m2500 \, \text{m}^2

B.

600 m2600 \, \text{m}^2

C.

700 m2700 \, \text{m}^2

D.

800 m2800 \, \text{m}^2

Correct option is D

Given:

The perimeter of a rectangle is 120 m.

If its length is twice its breadth.

Formula used:

Area = l × b

Perimeter = 2 × (l + b)

Where:

A is the area of the rectangle.

l is the length of the rectangle.

b is the breadth of the rectangle.

Solution:

Let, Breadth of the rectangle = b

Then Length = 2b

Perimeter = 120

2 × (2b + b) = 120

(3b) = 1202\frac{120}{2}

(b) = 20

then, length = 40cm

Now, rea of the rectangle.

Area =  40 × 20

Area = 800 m2\mathrm{m^2}

Thus, option (d) is correct.
