Question

The least number that when divided by 9, 16, 20 and 24, leaves 3 as remainder in each case is:

A.

725

B.

720

C.

723

D.

717

Correct option is C

Given:

A number divided by 9, 16, 20 , 24 leaves remainder 3

Solution:

LCM of 9, 16, 20, and 24, the prime factorization of each number:

9=32

16=24

20=22× 5

24=23× 3

So, LCM = 24×32×5= 16× 9×5= 720

Since, 3 is remainder

Then, 720 + 3 =723

Thus, the number is 723
