Question

The LCM and HCF of two numbers is 2400 and 20, respectively. When we divide the first number by 8, the quotient 60. Then the second number is:

A.

300

B.

600

C.

400

D.

100

Correct option is D

Given:

LCM = 2400

HCF = 20

First number ÷ 8 = 60

Concept Used:

Product of numbers = LCM × HCF

Solution:

First number = 60 × 8 = 480

Let the second number be x

480×x=2400×20480 \times x = 2400 \times 20

x=2400×20480x = \frac{2400 \times 20}{480}

x=48000480=100x = \frac{48000}{480} = 100
