Question

The larger of two supplementary angles is 62° more than the smaller one. The smaller angle (in degree) is:

A.

65°

B.

59°

C.

57°

D.

68°

Correct option is B

Given:

Two angles are supplementary;

The larger angle is 62° more than the smaller one;

Sum of supplementary angles is 180°.

Concept Used:

If two angles are supplementary, their sum is 180°.

Solution:

Smaller angle = x

Larger angle = x + 62

Now,

x + x + 62 = 180

2x + 62 = 180

2x = 180 - 62 = 118

x = 1182\frac{118}{2} = 59

Thus, smaller angle is 59o
