  • The GKRA was a rural public works scheme that aimed to provide employment to migrant workers and rural populations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  •  The scheme was implemented in 116 districts across six states: Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The scheme was a joint effort between 12 different ministries and departments. 
  • The GKRA ended on October 22, 2020, and generated 50.78 crore person-days of employment.
