Question

The HCF and LCM of two numbers are 44 and 264, respectively. If the first number is divided by 2, then the quotient is 44, What is the second number?

A.

134

B.

132

C.

130

D.

136

Correct option is B

Given:

HCF = 44, LCM = 264.

First number divided by 2 gives 44.

Formula Used:

Product of two number = HCF × LCM

Solution:

Let the first number be N1, and the second number be N2

N1= 44 × 2 = 88

Use the relation HCF × LCM = N1×N2

44 × 264 = 88 × N2

=>N2=1161688=132 \Rightarrow N_2 = \frac{11616}{88} = 132
