    Question

Sunila had 914\frac{1}4  kg of flour to make bread with. If the recipe says that she needs 118\frac{1}8  kg to make one loaf of bread, how many loafs can she make? Estimate to the nearest whole number.

    A.

    7

    B.

    10

    C.

    8

    D.

    9

    Correct option is C

    Given:
    Quantity of flour Sunila has
= Quantity of flour needed to make one loaf
    Solution:
No of the loafs to be made = Quantity of flour available ÷ Quantity needed for one loaf
    Sunila has:
    9149 \frac{1}{4}  kg = 374\frac{37}4 kg
    recipe requires
    1191\frac{1}9 kg = 98\frac{9}8 kg per loaf
Divide the total flour by the flour needed per loaf
    374\frac{37}4 ÷ 98\frac{9}8
    374×89\frac{37}4 ×\frac{ 8}9
    = 8.2
Required no of loaves (nearest to the whole no).
    = 8
