Question

Shagun and Sheetal have 40 kg and 50 kg apples respectively. Richa takes 30 percent apples from Shagun and 46 percent apples from Sheetal. Approximately what percent of total apples are Shagun and Sheetal left with?

A.

53 percent

B.

61 percent

C.

67 percent

D.

49 percent

Correct option is B

Given:
Apples initially with Shagun = 40 kg
Apples initially with Sheetal = 50 kg
Richa takes = 30%× Shagun + 46% × Sheetal
Solution:
Total initially quantity with Shagun and Sheetal = 40 + 50 = 90 kg
Quantity of apples Richa gets from Shagun = 40 × 30% = 12 kg
Quantity of apples Richa gets from Sheetal = 50 × 46% = 23 kg
Quantity of apples left with Shagun and Sheetal = (40 - 12) + (50 - 23) = 55 kg
Percentage of the quantity of apples left = 5590\frac{55}{90} × 100 ≈ 61%
